The Martin County Alliance and Martin County Chamber of Commerce are again partnering on their Annual Dinner! It will be held on March 14th, 2024, in Loogootee at the St John’s Center Lower Level. Doors open at 5:30 to give attendees time to check in and stop by our photo backdrop prior to opening remarks at 6:00. If you don’t have a chance to pick up your tickets before the dinner at one of the locations shown below, there will be a limited number available at the event! Make plans now to attend.

Martin County Urgent Care Grand Opening

The latest business to reopen in Martin County is Urgent Care, located at 104 Wood St. in the same location as the previous urgent care facility. The clinic held a ribbon cutting on Monday, December 11th at 10:00. The facility will offer extended hours and additional services to better serve the needs of the community. It will be open Monday through Friday 7am-7pm and Saturday 7am-5pm. The clinic will accept walk-ins and will schedule appointments via an online platform that will allow patients to input their information.

INvets Lunch & Learn

The Alliance hosted a very informative INvets Lunch & Learn event on December 5th. The program was created to help communities find talent and connect veterans and their families to Indiana career paths and communities. You can access information about the program at www.invets.org or call the Alliance at 812-295-4800.

Small Business INTAP MEETING

The Alliance hosted the Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC) on November 8th. The purpose of the event was to discuss the Indiana Technical Assistance Program (INTAP) with Martin County businesses. It is a mission of the Alliance to bring more resources and funding to Martin County any time possible.

INTAP is an annual program that helps small businesses in Indiana complete growth and improvement projects by providing up to $15,000 for services from a qualified professional. To be eligible for INTAP, Indiana small businesses:

Must be or become a member of Indiana Small Business Development Center, have a physical presence in the State, propose an eligible project, be a For-Profit business, use an Indiana-based vendor for the work and not have received INTAP funds twice before. Though not required, it is strongly suggested applying businesses provide 50% matching funds.

We had a great turnout, and even better conversation around the table. If you have ideas on how technology could help your small business, contact us at martinalliance@martinalliance.org and we’ll get you in contact with the ISBDC. Thank you to all of those who attended and good luck on growing your small business!

Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities

Have you heard of the CEO program? Alliance staff and board members are part of a steering committee established to get a Creating Entreprenurial Opportunities (CEO) program started in both Martin County School Corporations. The Alliance has agreed to be the fiscal sponsor for the program and ALL funds raised for the effort go to the program.

For those not familiar with CEO, high school juniors and seniors meet an hour and a half every school day. They learn more about opportunities in their community by going out and visiting businesses and building a local network. They meet with bankers and other business leaders, create business plans and set up a business. At the end of the year, they hold a trade show where students display products and talk about the businesses they have created.

The program is operated through Midland Institute and has been very successful throughout the United States. We’ve been able to raise the $35,000 needed for a Martin County CEO Chapter fee, but still need annual investors. Businesses, organizations and individuals are needed to pledge $1,000 per year for the next three years to fund the teacher and activities for the group. We have received pledges from 10 of the 35 annual sponsors required, but we need 25 more investors.

The program will be an expensive investment for Martin County, but so is losing the talent we are raising! Please consider investing in the youth of Martin County! We’re looking for creative ways to finance the program. Perhaps your former classmates or family members would like for the program to succeed and would be willing to hold a ‘CHALLENGE’ to raise money for the three-year pledges!

We’d love to help this program succeed! For questions or suggestions, please contact us at martinalliance@martinalliance.org or contact the office at 812-295-4800. HELP US HELP OUR YOUTH STAY IN MARTIN COUNTY!
